Top 5 Reasons why Virtual Personal Training Works

by Camille Eroy-Reveles Virtual Fitness & Yoga Teacher

The L Trainer has been an in home fitness business in NYC for over a decade.  We have subwayed, biked,  and walked all over the city to arrive in our clients own private fitness spaces. Whether apartment gym, Living room, deck, office, baby room, and even under a favorite tree in the park we arrived and helped create an experience of coming back into self via our practice of movement, breath, physical fitness challenge, stretch, and drill. This is what personal training is about for us- coming back into our bodies so we can expand with lifeforce…and this practice looks different for everyone as we are all so unique.

As Covid-19 took hold of our nation, we started doing our work virtually.  We bought selfie rings and ear pods and figured out how to create this experience via screen. Nearly 7 months in, and I am really impressed with what we can actually accomplish in zoom. My 80+ year old client is fluent in repositioning the iPad which helps him stick with his practice that supports spinal health and balance. I have a new admirer in a feline friend that loves to sit in on top of the laptop and stare at me coaching his person in complex lunges. And then the observation that most of our 40 something clients have switched from 1 hour sessions to 30 minute sessions. In these sessions there is no chit chat just 30 minutes of sacred time getting back to the body after so many virtual meetings.

I would say the general tone of virtual training is-” URGENT ME TIME.”

Every exercise, breath, stretch, and grunt has meaning, provides relief and helps us stay within ourselves when the world around us is ever changing. During one of the toughest years of our lives, our health (physical and mental) is the most important investment of time and money.

here are our top 5 reasons WHY VIRTUAL TRAINING WORKS

  1. It’s SUPER consistent. Training with a personal trainer already makes you more consistent because you set an appointment and yet we have noticed a big difference with our clients. NO ONE EVER CANCELS. My guess is because people aren’t going out as much and so the session becomes something to look forward to (not to mention how good you feel). The consistency is great for your body and mind, because it really keeps you progressing.

  2. It’s Convenient. You don’t need to go anywhere, just have an internet connection and you can safely huff and puff your way through the session, which is good for your lungs, your brain, and your spirit.

  3. It’s Completely Personalized. Unlike a fitness class, in a personalized session you receive a clear program strategy so you know what you are training for. With this clarity comes organization, progression, and improvement. This is our specialty, we don’t want you to stay in the same place doing the same fitness program over and over. One of our clients reflected at first that it felt strange “to have my youtube teacher give me feedback.”

  4. It Improves your Energy Levels. How much moving around are you doing lately? How much consumption of information is happening all the time? There is just so much energy and information you can take in and then you need a release. During your practice, you will be releasing A LOT of this extra energy. And as you empty it with your sweat or breath or pushup, you will get to the starting point again and feel clean and clear. When you empty your vessel then you can expand your life force organically. Wellness is about the release of the extra energy so that we can feel free and balanced.

  5. It Helps you Create. Ok people, in this unprecedented time we are being asked to innovate, shift our way, and co-create. Fitness is your best ally to get you to this space of creation. Not only will you feel empty of outside influence (read #4) but the endorphin boost and the better rest you get at night will together set you up for some major CREATIONs. We can’t wait to see what you can do!

If you are ready to shift your focus inward by starting at your body, we would be honored to help you with a virtual training practice. Contact Us and we will set up a consultation.
